Sunday Summary of Food Reviews and Spring Cleaning Blogs.

I’ve hope to make a mark on a good comeback. This week, I have unlocked a new achievement as I have posted 5 times, more than I have ever did (in a week) since I started this blog. And for me, that’s a BIG step towards my goal of “writing myself out there.”

Last Monday, I began my comeback with a review of the pizza chain, Project Pie, and its innovative way of serving customers something new and different with every order. Check it out to find out how!

Mine <3. I came prepared and had all the toppings I wanted. But I was kind of shy to ask for more because the long line is a pressure to bear with. You have to say everything fast and concise when you have about 20 more people behind you, waiting in line.

2 days later, I reviewed Ajisen Ramen, my first take into the domain of the ramen-addicts, and it turned out really gooood. I wonder if this sudden urge of mine to try as many ramen houses is good for my health?

Next was FINALLY getting rid of my old theme and theme headers. Not only that, I also edited my About Me page, my side bars, my footers, and my customized menu! I must say, a heavy burden was lifted off my shoulders when I did the “spring cleaning” of my blog. “Write Yourself Out There” was born properly, this time. To those who are bewildered by my title, this post will explain why I’ve chosen this particular set of words.

Can you believe this was an accidental shot?!

Then my hankering for steaks wormed it’s way into my blog. I just had to make another review of yet another good restaurant. Everything at Steak was a favorite to-go place for…everyone I know actually. So I don’t regret writing many good words about this one 🙂

Not even 24 hours later, I’ve created another post (yes, my hands are really itching to keep typing) to introduce the weekly and monthly features I’ve set up for this blog! I am really excited about this, and so I hope good things would come through this features 🙂

All Steak Lovers – Everything at Steak (Banawe)

Among my list of favorite food, steak is definitely part of the top 3 contenders. This is why I am so glad a branch of Everything at Steak is in Banawe. Steak, with all its beefy glory, has always sat well with me and my family.

Everything at Steak, with its GREAT QUALITY STEAKS, has become one of our favorite restaurants. There was 1-2 months when I was still in high school that we even had this weekly thing called “Steak Fridays.” Either we cook some at home or we go eat at E.A.T. In most cases, we go straight to Banawe and head for Everything at Steak right after school. I’m talking about my family here. A family of 4 girls and our parents. All steak lovers.

But of course, I’ve been so used to this place it didn’t occur to me to blog about it. Not until Renz (who has steak as his No. 1 favorite food) mentioned it to me. 😉

This branch is not particularly big. It’s almost always full come lunch or dinnertime (opens at 11:30 am). So as usual, Renz and I come here between 2-5 pm to avoid the crowds. First thing you’ll notice upon entering is the yellow interior design. Yellow wall paint, creamy table colors, yellow placemats, and white metal chairs. The place could only seat 8-10 groups max. Give or take the number of people per group. In front, the parking space can only accommodate 4 cars. But you can always park across the street beside the sidewalk for free, the parking “guys” there allow it.

Another worthy reason why we love this place so much is the price. Where else could you get a great STEAK coupled with a cup of RICE and a choice of SIDE DISH for less than P300?! This place is truly a bargain. 🙂

I’m going to teach you how to order so you don’t miss out. First, choose your meat.

  • T-bone (love this one, but comes with fatty parts)
  • Rib-eye (what a great piece! Has no bone nor fats)
  • New York steak (tried it once, not that recommended)
  • Less-boned chicken (for those who are NOT looking for red meat)
  • Lamb choice (tried it once, didn’t sit well with me)

The T-bone and the Rib-eye steaks are your best bets. They are the ones usually preferred by the customers. 🙂

Next, and this is an important part, you have to specifically say how you prefer your steak cooked. Well done, medium well done, medium, medium rare, rare. I always go for the medium rare because I like it to have a red center and love how soft it is.

3rd, choose your side dish. There are about 18 side dishes to choose from. Here are my top 5:

  • Mac & Cheese – Ah, my childhood love ❤
  • Meatball pasta – bowl of pasta topped with one piece of meatball.
  • Coleslaw – for those trying to be “healthy” (HAHA)
  • Twice-baked potato – YUM!
  • 2 piece fried egg – mainly because it is acceptable for my dukan diet PP days.

4th, choose a type of rub/flavoring on your steak. New Orleans Rub or Original Marinade (both are good!)

5th, there are 5 choices of sauce. My top 3 are: Barbecue, Original Mushroom Gravy and Peppercorn Gravy.

And that’s how you order your steak dish!  Remember, be very specific!

They also offer other dishes such as salmon fillets and good burgers, if you opt not to go for steaks 🙂 Other dishes (which I promise to take pictures of next time I visit) are their appetizers (country squash soup, chicken wings etc.) and their desserts (shepherd’s pie, apple crumble pie etc.) are all recommendable!

But one outstanding appetizer we never miss out on every time we’re there is the Moo Fries. Its one of the best combination of delectable chili, sour cream sauce and crunchy fries! You have to try them!

Dear God, I hope whoever is reading this can reach out from their screen and taste this. ;)

So there! I’ll update this post again next time we visit Everything at Steak 🙂 Some post-thoughts: Be really specific when ordering, I hope I have stressed this enough, now that I’m mentioning it for the 3rd time. The waitresses sometimes confuse whose order is whose especially when taking a lot of orders. This can destroy your experience, so be SPECIFIC! (4th time! lol). Also, the place is not that posh. It definitely needs some re-decorating again. But hey, if that doesn’t bother you, do visit them! Come for the food and I’m sure you’ll hardly notice the decorating 🙂

P.S. They used to play Friends (series) on their tv screens, one of the reason I came to love the show. So many happy memories in this place 🙂 I hope you can have good memories here, too!

Had a lovely day ❤

1st dayAccording to plan, today is the start of my birthday week celebration. Of course, I’m going to spend it with my boyfriend.

I actually haven’t seen Renz for quite sometime because of our busy schedules. I definitely missed him during this time apart, so I’m really grateful we had this day to ourselves. I’ve never told Renz this before, but he’s my constant drug. Without him, I have a feeling that my scales – my balance – in life would flip. I can handle a lot of things on my own. Heck, I even choose not talk to him whenever I have huge exams to take on or my priorities are piling up. But just knowing that after all those hardships, there is someone who I can lean on, someone who will always be okay with that and who will always understand me, makes me feel all is right with the world.

Today was just another of our typical dates. It was short and we spend our time together pigging out and telling each other our past week. But it was the right kind of Renz vitamin I needed. I have this deprivation that was quenched and I knew my birthday week started out great. ( I hope all couples feel something like this from time to time, and I’m not the only weird one here 🙂 ).

Everything at Steak Menu

So as usual, we went to our favorite places. This is a very special week so I dropped my diet routine and tried to hit the food places I would normally pry myself away from. Yes, this is the week I’m going to indulge myself with food. 🙂

Our first stop was Everything at Steak, as I promised before, I’m going to review the restaurant in my next upcoming posts. I took all the necessary pictures and soon, after you’ve read it, you’re going to enjoy it as much as we always do.

Our next stop was Gong Cha Tea House. Ohmygod. This place has best wintermelon rock salt and cheese milk tea I have ever tasted. We frequent this place in their Retiro branch. What I love about the milk tea is the premium Rock Salk and Cheese on top of the Wintermelon Tea. You can really taste the money you’re paying for and the creaminess of the milk and cheese, of course. (P95) Their house special is primed for its delicious goodness. So whenever you’re near a Gong Cha branch, NEVER forget to order their House Special Wintermelon Rock Salt and Cheese Tea!

Now this is what I'm talking about. Make sure to get that premium rock salt and cheese on top!

For the rest of the day, we also went to Dezaato Pan to have some of their famous Green Tea gelato ice cream and lattes. Unfortunately, I left my phone in the car and forgot to take pictures. Sue me for having too much fun with Renz and being on a clear cloud 9 for once :). Anyway, we had this song on replay the whole time. It became a theme song and one of our favorites.

I would never change him and I love him just the way he is. ❤

UPDATE: Here’s my review on Everything at Steak!

Renz’s Birth-Date

I chose the title ‘Birthdate,’ because it was a date meant for his birthday last Sept. 2. But this date was rescheduled so many times, I didn’t think it would finally pull through. The thing is, I didn’t even expect to wake up early. It was a rainy sunday morning and all I could think of is how I could get away with more sleep. To my surprise, Renz called. He’s already on the way to fetch me. Fudge. I’m running late.

This is me debuting my new hair color – which I hate. >:) I’m totally going to change it next week. (excuse the face, had to do make up in the car! lol)

I quickly jumped out of bed, took a shower and got dressed. 20 mins later, he’s on my doorstep. We had to hurry out because we had to be at the place for lunch at 11am.

So for our first agenda, Renz’s favorite BUFFET place: Vikings Buffet Restaurant. This is the second time we’ve been to Vikings and at both times, it was Renz who insisted. At first, I really didn’t want to because it’s really costly to eat here during the weekends compared to its weekday prices plus, I’m sure I won’t be able to eat as much as I want because of my recent diet. But when it comes to food, with Renz, it’s always the best. Afterwards, I knew our money was well spent. In fact, I’m going to write a review about it so I won’t have to post here all our food pictures.

Salmon and tuna sashimi, sushi variety and some baked cheesy oyster. YUM! :p

The mandatory couple’s picture for our date. ❤

Two and half hours later, we were so full it was hard to stand up without getting dizzy. With these kinds of buffet, you had to at least try a morsel of everything before you leave. We left SM and went to Trinoma. We walked around so we can help our stomachs digest our lunch. So we went shopping, I bought some makeup brushes while Renz led me to his favorite shoe stores again. The boy has a penchant for shoes and is always trying to look for great ones to add to his collection. While shopping, we ran into some of his relatives. I met his uncle and some cousins from his mom’s side. We said ‘hi’ and they joked about how I seemed to look like a different girl from whom they have seen before (lol different hair color). I love this part because I seem to be having a surge of ‘meeting his relatives’ this month. All of a sudden, I am meeting them all one by one. I guess this is lucky for me. I would know some people when Renz brings me to this major family event next month.

We’re a couple, these are the inescapable things we do. Sue us. 🙂

After a while, we still had hours to kill before our movie starts. We went grocery shopping and bought nothing. HAHA. I almost bought a pint of Arce Dairy Green Tea ice cream but thought of it otherwise. I just had this craving for something green tea flavored so we went up to our favorite yogurt place, Red Mango.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

We chose to watch The Mortal Instruments because I have read the book before. I knew it was an exciting read at first, but then it got boring further down the road. I don’t remember why, but it was the reason I didn’t buy the next books in the series. After watching the movie, I remembered. I don’t want to cause major spoilers, so don’t read the next line! – it’s because the leads are actually brother-sister! Ok, it’s not yet confirmed by the end of the movie, but that totally led me NOT to buy the next books. In other non-content related news, the movie was great. The effects were nice and the story was not boring at all. But there is no denying you have to read the books sometime to get the total gist of everything that’s happening in it. The movie ran for more than two hours, by the way. I loved Lily Collins’ hair though! Red is totally in this year.

Grandparent’s Day free photo booth pictures!

Lastly before we left, we passed by an event hosted by Trinoma for Grandparent’s Day. They have this big free movie screening and free medical check ups and free food (I didn’t ask) available for the elderly and the senior citizens. What do you know, they also have free photo booth sessions open for the public! When we asked, there wasn’t a line at all and only the personnel were taking advantage of the free shots. I dragged Renz into it (he’s always reluctant for these things) and we got one souvenir. Yay!

I wrote a blog post about this day because I want this to be glued in my memory as long as possible. This is one of those dates that are really memorable to me. We haven’t had a real date for the longest time and I’m glad we finally had one today. We talked a lot about meaningful things and got into a lot of first. Like for one, when we were already in the car and was driving out of the mall, we saw the long lines of people waiting for cabs and looking for other ways to commute home. That used to be us. Oh how I wished for this day to finally come, and when it did, I’m glad we appreciated the little things. It was a perfect date. Nothing went wrong and we were both beaming by the end of it. As of this post, I’m still happy about it and so is Renz. In the end, I regretted nothing about the day and it could not have gone more amazingly.

Hoping for more times like these,

Patricia :*

P.S. Last picture for this post! I collect receipts for future and memory purposes. Some people collect stamps, I collect receipts. Weird right? lol 😀

Valet, Vikings, Laundry Receipts

Valet parking because we were running late, Vikings receipt, and the laundry receipt when we dropped Momo, the huge stuffed toy, he gave me to the dry cleaners before he drove me home. 🙂
